Dunedin property developer TGC Homes has achieved a significant milestone, ranking 8th on the Deloitte Fast 50 index — a celebration of New Zealand's fastest-growing companies. The announcement was made at the Deloitte Fast 50 event in Auckland on 20 November, marking TGC’s debut appearance in the competition.
In addition to its top-10 national ranking, TGC Homes was named the Regional Winner for the Fastest-Growing Construction Company in Otago. This dual recognition highlights the company’s exceptional growth and its ability to overcome the challenges facing the construction industry in recent years.
Milestone Achievement for a Dunedin Business
TGC Homes’ 8th place finish is the highest ranking achieved by a Dunedin-based business on the Fast 50 index in over a decade. (and the top place for the Otago/Southland region in the past five years). Directors Tom Nailard, George Hercus, and Charles Blair credit the success to their dedicated team, their focus on delivering well-designed, energy-efficient homes, and their commitment to exceptional client service—both pre- and post-purchase.
Reflecting on the journey, Director George Hercus shared, “The Deloitte Fast 50 was a fantastic opportunity to pause, reflect, and celebrate what our amazing team has accomplished over the past three years. Finishing in the top 10 is an incredible result, and we’re excited for what the future holds for TGC.”
Achieving Success Through Strong Local Partnerships
TGC’s success is also a testament to the outstanding collaboration with Dunedin’s local businesses, whose expertise and support have been instrumental in the company’s growth. From builders, electricians, plumbers, tilers, joiners, glaziers and painters to bathroom manufacturers, these partnerships are vital to delivering TGC’s townhouse developments.
Beyond the trades, TGC’s projects rely on the contributions of a wide network of local enterprises. These strong partnerships not only underpin TGC’s success but also foster mutual growth, strengthening the local economy and reinforcing the shared achievements of the Dunedin community.
Director Charles Blair considered the significance of the recognition for not only TGC but other local businesses, stating, “We’re absolutely thrilled with this award, which could not have been achieved without our dedicated team who give 100% every single day and the incredible network of local businesses and individuals who contribute to our projects. This recognition belongs to all of them, too.”
Thriving in a Challenging Industry
The construction sector has faced significant challenges in recent years due to COVID, including rising costs, supply chain disruptions, and inflation. Despite these obstacles, TGC Homes has demonstrated resilience and innovation, maintaining a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, exceptional client service, and customer-focused design for contemporary lifestyles.
The Deloitte Fast 50 programme, now in its 24th year, celebrates the achievements of Kiwi businesses that are pushing the limits, breaking records, and redefining fast growth.
The Directors want to thank Deloitte and BNZ for their recognition and efforts in supporting this event that celebrates the success of New Zealand businesses.
